This is the second in our series of 8 articles based on fertilising crops to improve human health. These have all been taken from a joint publication by the International Plant Nutrition Institute (IPNI) and the International Fertiliser Industry Association (IFA). In this article the focus is on Fertiliser Applications and Nutraceutical Content in Health-Functional Foods. Research shows that fruits and vegetables are critical to disease prevention and promotion of good health and that consumers are increasingly interested in the health benefits of foods. Functional foods and nutraceuticals provide an opportunity for agriculture to improve health, reduce health care costs and support economic development. Read this review here.
