Combating Paddock

Farmer and National Sales Manager for RLFs
About this Series
An informative and insightful video series featuring Grant Borgward has been released for 2016.

It has been called FARMER TO FARMER with very good reason.

This series has been developed to enable farmers everywhere to draw knowledge and inspiration from a fellow farmer as well as to spread further the message of RLF products.

Grant Borgward talks about Combating Paddock Variability and
Hidden Hunger

At RLF we’ve designed a range of products, the Ultra Foliar and the Rapid range basically to combat paddock variability and hidden hunger.

Now these two terms are ones that the farmer doesn’t necessarily hear all the time when he is making his fertiliser purchasing decisions. But they have a big impact on final yield.

If we just look at one hectare – which is ten thousand square meters – the farmer’s job is to make sure that each square meter has adequate nutrients right across the board. So it can have enough nitrogen, enough phosphorus, enough potassium, enough zinc, enough copper, enough manganese and enough molybdenum.

The efficient way to make sure that all the trace elements are supplied is to use either an Ultra Foliar or a Rapid Max product and put the zinc, the copper, the manganese and the molybdenum out to the crop in a phosphorus based product that enables the rapid uptake of each of those nutrients once applied to the leaf.

These nutrient deficiencies could go undetected, or unseen, with the consequence that when the time comes for the plant to actually make the grain, there is simply not enough nutrient within the plant’s bio-mass to adequately fill the heads up. So, the farmer has a good looking crop, a good body crop, but is not going to get the yield because of the lack of some trace elements.

That is why our Broad-spectrum technology is a safety net.

To make sure that the trace elements which are relatively easy to fix are all covered at a very cost effective rate. It can be done with boom-spray application, and means that all the nutrient needs, that are quite often missed because the farmer is focusing simply on the NPK application, are met.
