Grant Borgward talks about Hidden Hunger And The Benefit of
Broad-spectrum Foliar
Hidden hunger, and by the name it certainly suggests that it is something we’re not seeing.
That’s where we lose yield based on a nutrient deficiency but we’re unaware of it.
Now this is closely linked to paddock variability, and quite often a farmer will say to me, “yes, I’ve got a zinc deficiency, so let’s spray some zinc on”. But generally in agronomic terms, if you’ve got a zinc deficiency, you’ve most likely also got a copper deficiency and/or a manganese deficiency at the same time. And it may only be that it’s the zinc deficiency that you have picked up on – because that’s what the test says, or that’s what is being visually expressed by the plant as a symptom.
RLF philosophy is that the right amount of zinc in the right form, plus the supply of nutrients like copper and manganese at the same time is the way to go. This way, we know we are taking care of paddock variability which can change with every square meter.
So to get maximum yield out of every hectare ( which is every 10,000 sq. metres) we need to put the right nutrients in the tank.
And that is to supply all the nutrients all the time.
